Alison Hui is a Hong-Kong based contemporary artist, urban sketcher and doodler, who renders her city-inspired observation in vivid and delightful details with vibrant colours.She uses lines, colour and pattern to record and express her interpretation of observation in her artworks.
She has a special interest in ethnic textile, symbols,architecture and cultural elements. She uses her works to express the beauty of various cultures, through a deeper observation.
She started her artist practice as a travel sketcher with simple sketch tools and portable watercolour pallete. Finishing the artist residency in Leipzig in 2019, she focuses on different series of abstract artworks, in exploring the relationships between human, city, identity and culture. To rethink one's own relationship with the earth and community, while filling in a sense of hope with colors.
Her works are exhibited in Hong Kong and aboard. She wrote two books: Embrace the Uncertainties & Explore Hong Kong Taste
